Numatic: 20 Spring Cleaning Tips For An Ultra Tidy Kitchen

Did you know that the term ‘spring cleaning’ dates all the way back to the 1800’s! I guess our forefathers saw the significance in ‘turning a new leaf’ and completely cleaning out the old with the change of seasons. Today ‘spring cleaning’ happens all around the globe. This is why we bring you 20 of the best spring clean tips for the tidiest kitchen ever.

Start at the Start…

  1. Start from the top to the bottom. Dust ceiling boards first and floors last.
  2. Move those heavy furniture items around and vacuum in the hidden corners. Don’t forget to move the fridge or washing machine too. You may be surprised with what you find lurking behind it!
  3. Remove clutter from countertops and pack unnecessary goods away.
  4. Degrease and disinfect counters and hard to reach places… such as the tops of cabinets!
  5. Repack your drawers. Invest in drawer organizers to keep them tidy and help you find what you need when you need it!
  6. Wipe down the exterior of your cabinets and handles. Use soapy water to remove stubborn grime.
  7. Clean your kitchen light fittings. Use a soft cloth and some soapy water to remove stubborn dust.
  8. Don’t forget the skirtings and cornices. It’s one of the most overlooked places in the room! Vacuum in all those corners and eliminate dust fast!
  9. Disinfect your dishwasher. Place a cup of white vinegar in a dishwasher-safe container on the upper rack of the machine. Run the dishwasher through a hot-water cycle.
  10. Disinfect the microwave too! Again vinegar is a powerful cleaning agent. Simply add a tablespoon to a microwave safe bowl and microwave on high for five minutes before wiping the interior down.
  11. Deep clean your oven. Create a paste with water and baking soda and coat the interior of your oven. After 24 hours, use a spatula to remove the paste and wipe down with a wet cloth.
  12. Wash out your rubbish bin. Create a solution of soapy water and hose down or wash your bin – inside and out.
  13. Deep clean the kitchen sink. Add a cup of baking soda around the sink, and scrub with a wet sponge.
  14. Unclog the kitchen drain. Pour a half cup of baking soda into the drain and follow it with 500 ml of boiling water. Baking soda is a great cleaning agent and will absorb foul odours, too.
  15. Wipe down all your small appliances.
  16. Take complete stock of your pantry and reorganize. Toss old or expired goods and make room for fresher items.
  17. Deep clean the extractor fan. If you have carbon or paper filters in your extractor fan, these will need to be replaced rather than cleaned.
  18. Give your fridge a proper clean – inside and out. Pack out everything, including shelves, trays and attachments before washing it out completely.
  19. Don’t skip the floors. After a thorough vacuum (and you’ll need a good one) be sure to mop the floor fully and get into those hard to reach spaces too.
  20. Sort out your cleaning supplies. If you store your cleaning products under the sink, this cupboard will need a thorough clean too.

It all comes down to the right appliances and products…

Remember to invest in good quality cleaning appliances and products for the best spring clean experience. Numatic offers a range of superior vacuum cleaners to make the task so much easier. And once you’re all done with our list above, step back and enjoy your fresh new kitchen.
