Casarredo: Explore Contemporary Kitchen Layouts For the Modern Home
Designing a kitchen is a blend of art and science, something the highly qualified and experienced team at Casarredo understands to the fullest. “We understand that every kitchen and living space has its personality and we specialise in creating bespoke kitchens tailored to each client’s unique needs,” says Casarredo.
To help clients choose the perfect kitchen layout for their home, here the team explores various popular kitchen layouts, along with their advantages and disadvantages.
Types of Kitchen Layouts
Single wall: In this layout, all units and services are arranged along one straight wall. While this layout takes up minimum space and provides the user with a clear view of the space, the linear arrangement can hinder movement between counters and storage areas.
Galley: A galley kitchen is characterised by the placement of the kitchen units and services on opposite sides with a walkway in between. While this neatly separates the working area from storage and services efficiently but the limited walkway space can make it difficult for multiple people to use the kitchen simultaneously.
L-shaped: As the name suggests, in an L-shaped kitchen, units are laid out in an L-shape, with two walls forming an acute angle. This space-saving design is great for small areas but the workflow can be inefficient, requiring movement from one end to the other.
U-shaped: This layout utilises three walls for kitchen units, with a single entry and exit point. While the layout maximises wall space for storage and services, it reduces walking space within the kitchen.
Island kitchen: A popular choice, this layout features freestanding units in the middle of the kitchen, often including seating and additional storage. This layout option promotes efficient workflow and adds multifunctional space but can limit walking space if the kitchen is not large enough.
Peninsula kitchen: Similar to an island kitchen, in this version the island is connected to the main counter, enhancing the flow. This adds additional units and seating, improving functionality but limiting entry points and space within the kitchen.
“By understanding the different kitchen layouts and their respective pros and cons, clients can make an informed decision that best suits their home and lifestyle. Whether you prefer the simplicity of a single-wall kitchen or the multi-functionality of an island kitchen, we are here to help you create a space that is both beautiful and practical.”
