In Style Interiors: What to Expect in Kitchen Trends for 2018
After eighteen successful years in the kitchen industry, Teodora Marais established In Style Interiors. Her passion for quality and originality is reflected in her work. Here she shares some of the insider trends we can look forward to in 2018.
The kitchen is a focal point of a home’s living space but it is also important to be designed in a way that does not only blend but also accentuates the general architectural intention of the house. In Style Interiors recommend the integration of technological gadgets such as motion activated lights and Bluetooth appliances in the kitchen. As in most homes, the tablet has replaced the old cookbook, so when designing a kitchen one should not forget the importance of allocating a convenient stand or even just space for it at the cooking and preparation area. When planning the electrical layout, it is a must to incorporate USB ports near these two areas. When it comes to design, we see that clean simple lines are here to stay. The mixture of surface thicknesses and textures will continue to be in demand as they promote practicality, aesthetics and quality as well as modern architectural lines. Think about integrated appliances, light pendants or completely concealed extractor fans, under-mount prep bowls and fold-away taps. “Break” the monotonous greys which have been a trend in the past couple of years by introducing purples, greens or reds in order to bring curiosity and attention to the kitchen. In this manner, one is also able to complement dining room or living room furniture styles. Metallics are also a huge trend! 2017 was all about copper. There is an international trend to introduce gold (in various shades and textures) as well. Simplicity is the key, by having a gold open shelf, handles or golden aluminium structures that will make a statement. These colours should be chosen in collaboration with other pieces such as pendant lights or chandeliers. Contact: In Style Interiors
