Blum SA Presents New Design Ideas From Milan
The furniture and design sector made the most of Salone del Mobile in Milan from 16 to 21 April to present their latest creations. Manufacturer of fittings, Blum attended the trend-setting furniture fair in Italy and showcased key design trends in its Trend Report 2024. Let’s take a closer look at the trends with a focus on all the inspiration from Milan.
What new materials and textures are designers using? What colours and shapes are trending? And what will the dream kitchen and smart furniture of tomorrow look like? Blum went to Salone del Mobile and various showrooms in Milan in search of answers and found them. The company’s new trend report reveals all.
Lots of inspiration
Trends have been grouped under different categories, providing design aficionados with exciting input and lots of inspiring ideas, from elegant accent pieces and smart applications to the latest colour schemes. What will the future hold? Interior designer and Head of Blum’s Trade Fair Construction Department Mario Schmelzenbach puts it in a nutshell: “More colour and curves. Beige is complemented by new colour palettes, and monochrome design is losing favour. Furnishings in earthy, sandy hues such as powder rosé, salmon, terracotta and ochre are conquering interiors. Another thing we noticed in Milan is soft and rounded shapes in everything – designers are moving away from sharp lines and rigid structures.”
Colourful kitchens
Modern kitchen concepts are putting a greater emphasis on design freedom: it’s all about mixing colours and textures. The tactile trend continues to grow with an increased use of surfaces that invite us to touch and feel. What else is trending? “Fronts in a metal or stone look. Both add a touch of extravagance, especially if a trend colour is in play. Clever storage space solutions also point the way.
Further highlights at Salone del Mobile were hidden doors integrated into kitchen cabinetry and elegant pocket systems,” the expert adds. Curious to see the latest design ideas? Check out the photo galleries in Blum’s Trend Report 2024 at here.
