With AutoDos with integrated PowerDisk, Miele’s G7000 dishwasher is revolutionising the way dishes are cleaned. Says Jon Molyneaux from Miele South Africa: “This unique system dispenses detergent automatically and uses specially designed powder granulate for best results. Furthermore, the new dishwashers can be controlled via the Miele@mobile app, and it can be programmed from a mobile device. All that remains for the user to do is to load and unload the machine, and occasionally replace the PowerDisk – everything else can be left up to the appliance.”

PowerDisk cleans powerfully and gently

The PowerDisk is easily and quickly fitted in the device on the inner face of the door – and dispenses detergent by rotating automatically during the programme. Measuring approximately 15cm in diameter and around 4cm in width, the PowerDisk releases a defined quantity of powder granulate into the chamber with each 360° turn. The system automatically dispenses precisely the correct amount of detergent required in a specific programme. Particularly in the ‘Automatic’ programme, dispensing is geared to the degree of soiling, which is monitored by a sensor. Consequently, more is dispensed to deal with heavy soiling and about a quarter less for light soiling. In ‘Normal 60°C’, a PowerDisk lasts 20 cycles, which corresponds to a month’s requirements based on typical domestic use.

As comparisons conducted by an independent institute confirm, the detergent makes a considerable contribution towards excellent dishwashing results. The formulation was chosen with great care to meet the needs of the G 7000 with AutoDos, and guarantees both powerful and gentle cleaning. Jon explains: “The powder granulate, which dissolves fast, contains special enzymes for an effective wash, even at low temperatures. It also contains active oxygen for thorough cleanliness and freshness, and protection factors for silver and glassware. Rinse aid and salt are included. Special protection against moisture and heat guarantees unwaveringly high quality and consistency over the entire use of a PowerDisk.”

He says that the G 7000 also features a conventional two-compartment container in the door for the use of conventional detergents such as tablets and powder, if preferred.

Extended app for convenient programming

All G 7000 models with AutoDos can be connected to the Internet via WiFi and can be controlled via the Miele@mobile app from a mobile device – or via Amazon’s voice-controlled assistant, Alexa. “This allows users to start and stop their G 7000 from anywhere, activate programmes and options from their smartphones, check levels (with an automatic reminder), and even order detergent online,” notes Jon.

The AutoStart function promises additional relief during busy days, he explains: “As AutoDos is ready to dispense on-board detergent at any time, the G 7000 dishwasher can be programmed to always start at the same time, for example at 9am every second day. Equally so, it is possible to programme in different starting times: say one for weekdays and another for the weekend, or even to run different wash cycles.” He points out that the system is intelligent: “If the appliance door has not been opened between cycles, the start is simply cancelled. In addition to this, the user can trigger further cycles from a mobile device or, conversely, cancel or postpone programmed starts. All programming options are available from the Miele@mobile app.”

High-level convenience

When it comes to operating the machine face-to-face, Jon says the tactile interaction is seamless: “The G 7000 dishwasher boasts an M Touch colour display allowing it to be operated just like a smartphone. This guarantees a brilliant user experience using both symbols and text and an intuitive interface involving tapping, dragging and swiping, an approach only available from Miele.”

Offering superlative loading convenience, Miele’s G 7000 dishwasher boasts improved ruggedness and added adjustment options. Jon offers an example: “Every second spike in the row of spikes in the upper basket is now hinged, allowing for instance, muesli bowls or dessert dishes to be placed upright for better run-off. These are joined by additional holders and non-slip silicone rests to securely hold delicate cups, glasses and bowls or light-weight plastic items for example.”

He notes that one particularly useful detail characterises the new 3D MultiFlex cutlery drawer: “For the first time, the right-hand side section can be lowered, offering space not only for cutlery, but also small items of crockery such as espresso cups. The central section, fixed in a lowered position, can now take for example large soup ladles. The left-hand section can still slide to one side to allow tall items of stemware to be securely accommodated in the upper basket below.”

Such tried-and-tested Miele features as QuickPowerWash (an A-rated cleaning performance in only 58 minutes), LED interior lighting (BrilliantLight), or opening the handleless door by knocking on the front (Knock2open).

Technology that protects the environment

Thanks to their particularly low water and electricity consumption, Miele’s G 7000 dishwashers meet the particularly strict requirements for the new A energy efficiency rating – combined with the best possible cleaning performance and without any trade-off in terms of convenience. Says Jon: “Miele has reduced the energy consumption of its dishwashers by 44% over the past 20 years – and is now even 10% below the threshold value for the top A+++ energy efficiency rating. Since March 2021, EU legislators have ratcheted up the criteria for the energy label to such a degree that even the most economical models under the old regime fall far short of the new top A energy efficiency rating.”

This impressive efficiency is possible thanks to Miele’s EcoPower technology, as well as precisely matching components, explains Jon: “These include further optimisation of the spray arms, which results in greater precision in the alignment of the spray jets. These are joined by a highly efficient filtration system and an intelligently designed water intake system. Additional insulation also reduces thermal losses and hence the amount of energy required to heat the water. On aggregate, these improvements in detail result in far less water and electricity being consumed (water consumption in ECO programme: 8.4 litres).”

Reliably dealing with viruses

Demands for hygiene around the home have reached high levels and, indeed, further increased during the Covid pandemic. Hygienically sparkling crockery engenders trust and confidence and creates a sense of security in everyday life. And now, the Albstadt-Sigmaringen University of Applied Sciences has conducted a scientific investigation into whether dishwashers from Miele meet these high demands – and the independent Institute for Integrative Hygiene and Virology (InFluenc_H) awarded Miele its gold seal of approval.

Says Jon: “This hygiene seal is exclusively granted to products whose high performance in protecting against viruses has been scientifically proven. It requires that 99.9% or more of viruses are reliably deactivated. This comprises enveloped and non-enveloped viruses, including the SARS-CoV-2 Coronavirus, influenza and Noro viruses. Sophisticated spray technology and high wash temperatures on Miele dishwashers ensure dependable and hygienic cleaning results. In the ‘Hygiene’ and ‘Intensive’ programmes with wash temperatures exceeding 70°C, more than 99.9% of all pathogens are deactivated. Enveloped viruses, such as SARS-CoV-2, are even rendered harmless in the water- and energy-saving ECO programme.”
