Composting during load-shedding
Unfortunately, on those days – and horribly dark nights – when load-shedding strikes, and electrical power seems to become a distant dream, on and off, all the time, never fear, for your Microgarden Kitchen Composter is near! Load-shedding need not stop us from contributing positively to the environment through composting with the Microgarden Kitchen composter – the easiest way to reduce your food waste.
If you have solar panels or a generator, the composter will run during load-shedding, as it requires very little power.1 KLW for the whole cycle.
The Microgarden Kitchen Composter will complete a full cycle within 5-7 hours depending on what’s in the bucket. However, 4 hours should be sufficient, as the drying and grinding cycles both take between 2-3 hours to complete, and after 4 hours your food waste should be dry and sufficiently broken down, depending on the contents in the bucket.
If, after 4 hours, you find the food waste is still a bit wet and of a sticky texture, all you will need to do is simply pop it on again. It’s so easy!
It is not necessary for the machine to run the cooling cycle; the contents can cool down on their own. So, you might be lucky and get away with one short cycle. Alternatively, you would need to run two short cycles to achieve your pre-compost output.
