Good sound has a way of changing how a home feels. A film becomes more immersive, a favourite album fills the room, and suddenly that quiet evening on the sofa feels a little more cinematic. Sonos is taking that idea further with two new additions to its connected audio system, available through Planetworld: Beam Ultra and Sonos Ace Ultra.

Beam Ultra builds on the compact proportions of the original Beam, making it an interesting option for living rooms where powerful sound is wanted without a soundbar dominating the space. Inside are nine custom drivers, including two dedicated up-firing drivers, delivering true 7.1.2 Dolby Atmos and warmer bass. A redesigned centre channel brings greater clarity to dialogue, while four levels of AI Speech Enhancement make it easier to follow conversations without constantly reaching for the remote.

For more personal listening, Sonos Ace Ultra introduces a Sonos-designed 40mm driver alongside next-generation Adaptive ANC powered by 10 microphones. Battery life stretches to up to 35 hours with noise cancellation switched on, making the headphones as suited to travelling as they are to listening at home.

Perhaps most interesting is how easily the two products can become part of a wider Sonos set-up. Beam Ultra can connect with additional speakers for multi-room listening or a more expansive home cinema arrangement, while headphone linking allows Ace Ultra users to move whatever is playing on their Sonos system directly to their headphones – and back again – at the press of a button.

Both products arrive alongside Sonos 27, the latest generation of the brand’s audio operating system, which introduces new ways to control and move sound around the home. The Sonos Beam Ultra further expands the brand’s approach to connected sound in the home.
