Morsø: Wood Burning Fires
While there certainly is no smoke without a fire, when it comes to actual wood-burning fires, the notion that a softly crackling fire is not eco-friendly is certainly a lot of smoke, says Morsø, a producer of premium fireplaces, outdoor braais and kitchen and living accessories.
“In the daily environmental debate, we tend to react strongly to even the most logical statements,” says Morsø. “For instance, what pollutes most: heating a summer cottage with a wood-burning stove, frying bacon or lighting two candles on a cosy evening? Most people would probably guess the stove, logically enough, since we can both see and smell the smoke. Even if science tells us that a woodburning stove filled with dry, certified wood only accounts for a few percent of particulate emissions in a home and that all the rest comes from clothes, cooking, candles and various other ordinary things, it’s easy to assume that a cosy stove or candles are luxuries that environmentally responsible people should avoid.”
The company’s range of indoor wood-burning fireplaces are made out of cast iron and feature large combustion chambers, allowing for the use of large-sized fuel. What’s more, the fireplaces have a top energy efficiency rating of A+, spreading a comfortable warmth around the entire house regardless of size, layout and construction.
“The traditional woodburning stove by Morsø is as loved as it is well-known. The timeless, yet modern, design combined with genuine, Danish craftsmanship is the basic essence of Morsø. Also, the majority of Morsø’s wood burners are certified according to the Nordic Swan Ecolabel. Thus, you will have an efficient heating source and an environmentally friendly solution, as the oven meets even the most rigorous environmental requirements.”
