Plascon House Tour: English Rose
This 17th Century English cottage is beautifully modernized to add new life in this space, with striking vintage touches in every room. The owners were wise enough to highlight some of the original architecture and history of this place while bringing in a more modern and fresh feel that is bright and appealing.
A rustic stone wall becomes a feature in the living room while a gorgeously modern geometric area rug adds a more contemporary and updated ambiance here – in bright tones that inject energy in this room. Similarly, original stonework continues through to the staircase which brings charisma and rustic appeal to this home. We love the use of an oversized mirror to add light and depth to this area, as well as contemporary red lettering that brings a modern touch with vibrant colour to this otherwise neutral space. The kitchen nook too is beautifully crisp and fresh in tones of white with modern finishes such as galvanised metal chairs that add style and a contemporary flair. Framed vintage prints add pops of colour in this space, and we love the subtle use of muted stripes on the table and in the scatters that add to the colour scheme here. In the bedroom, a palette of white, grey and red comes to life in this beautifully calming, Nordic space. We love how the colour of the accent pieces pop against a white backdrop. A minimalist crate bedside table adds rustic appeal while a clever little nook above the wall panelling acts as the perfect spot for a collection of novels! Gorgeous vintage iron beds feature in the childrens’ bedroom – adding a vintage touch with modern, fresh colours to add character here. Again, a white backdrop (walls and floors) create a calming bedroom environment with bursts of colour added through soft textiles, bunting above the bed and a playful owl area rug that is perfectly suited to a child’s room.
