Plascon House Tour: A Whimsical White House

If you can imagine a modern-day beach palace for Snow White, then perhaps you can envision this all-white abode we are touring today. There is something magical about the high angled ceilings, grand oversized crystal chandelier and all-white interior that leads out to a paradisiacal ocean right on your doorstep.

Light and space are emphasised here – large windows and doors beckon the outside in, and natural light exudes through triangular skylights in the living areas. It seems bigger is better – a large fireplace, oversized dining table and the considerable size of the open plan space all work to enhance the grandeur of this whimsical beach house found on the German coast.

White is timeless; it is refreshing and soothing without being overpowering. It blends well with just about any other colour and interior trend and it will probably be in fashion for many years to come. It is the perfect tone for a whimsical beach home where light, air and seaside come together. The subtle incorporation of natural wood and rustic finishes add to the organic feel of this home. Woven seating and a wooden feature wall with cabinetry complement the earthy seaside tones and are a welcome break from the stark white walls with bright natural lighting.
In the bedroom, the focal point is of course, the view of the ocean. Who needs colour or grand artwork on the walls when the living landscape outside brings its own sense of vibrancy to the interiors! The rustic four-poster bed is perfectly positioned to look out at the waves and to enjoy the fresh sea air. White linen and flowing drapes (also white) add to the contemporary beach house feel. Even in the bathroom, white walls and bathroom fixtures are cool, crisp and calming. In this abode, the all-white spaces create a dreamy, buoyant atmosphere that plays backdrop to the real hero – the magnificent seascape just beyond the walls.
