A Green Point Urban Retreat Makeover with Metal Windows
The trendy suburb of Green Point in Cape Town is a popular leisure district and one of the oldest and most sort-after residential areas overlooking the pristine waters of Table Bay on the Atlantic Ocean.
It was here where Metal Windows was contracted to update a Green Point townhouse into a contemporary abode with clean lines designed around open plan living. The home required a complete and utter overhaul and the result speaks for itself…
Free of internal walls, it’s now one large, fluid space that has a fantastic indoor-outdoor connection. The open plan design showcases the couple’s passion for art and entertaining.
The space is filled with striking pop art pieces painted by owner Dave. The dramatic expansive space is designed to integrate the original kitchen and forms one continuous living area by creating a galley-style kitchen, and forming a flow to the dining and living areas.
Graphic lines come together in the kitchen -cum -living area, forming an ideal backdrop for paintings created by the owner. The kitchen is the heart of the open-plan hub. Layered lighting, including recessed purple fluorescent lights suspended above the concrete countertop adds interest. The glamorous, steel framed, mirrored kitchen cabinets are on trend and small steel handmade cupboard handles complete the look.
The doors were custom designed by Larry, with their unique FORMAN F7 system. Mirrors reflect the cast concrete kitchen island, living room and stunning views of the Cape Town Waterfront.
Sophisticated, functional, luxurious. These three words best describe this home’s three en- suite bathrooms. The luxurious bathrooms all have customized steel and glass shower enclosures, designed & manufactured using FORMAN Brand steel section exclusive to MW.Upstairs reveals three bedrooms, 2 guest bedrooms en-suite plus a main bedroom.
The enormous main bedroom leads to a dressing room and en-suite bathroom. We created a double shower enclosure for the couple’s twin headed shower. Steel framed mirrors hang over the double basin vanity unit, combining a contemporary and traditional style, with a clean and modern feel.
The two en suite guest bathrooms continue the monochrome theme, with white sanitary ware & tiles and black steel elements, shower enclosures and mirrors making a bold statement Morning light floods into the space, providing the sense of airy openness that the owner s crave.
Attention to design detail and the use of locally manufactured, high quality raw materials, combined with service excellence are the distinguishing traits of Metal Windows commitment to quality.
