The African Touch: Simplicity in Great Design
Handcrafted quality takes time and precision. This couldn’t be more true for the craftsmen at The African Touch.
At The African Touch, Safari and Campaign furniture are built and designed from some of the finest hardwoods in the world. All pieces are handcrafted using traditional joinery methods. Internal components are also built from solid hardwood and fittings are solid brass. They offer excellent prices direct from the factory, with each piece crated securely for delivery.
The furniture found here reflects the qualities of the materials used and the superb skills of craftsmen who have learned their craft over the last quarter of a century. All senior craftsmen have a share in the business.
All aspiring artisans are apprenticed to a master craftsman who guides them during two to three years of apprenticeship. They are only entrusted with their own projects once this training is complete.
Here you will find a range of chairs, tables and desks, bedroom furniture, Safari camping accessories and more.
The Wilderness Chair
The Wilderness Chair epitomises the inherent simplicity in great design. Two elegantly folding leaves provide perfect comfort and the ultimate in storage convenience. Ideal as an extra chair or as permanent lounge chair. The yacht sail rope seats is not only very comfortable but extremely tough and hard wearing.
The Wilderness Chair is assembled with large, strong mortice and tenon joints. The sail rope seat and back is then strung very tightly and this adds significantly to the strength of the whole chair.
The seat hangs from the back legs with solid brass hinges and rests on steel lugs, making it very secure.
The chair folds very simply on solid brass hangers. It can be hung on a wall or stowed in a cupboard.
