The Coney Collective: The Beauty of Mixed Materials
When it comes to sustainable furniture design, Coney Timbers are constantly innovating. Their creations are inspired by nature and take on a life of its own, as timeless feature pieces.
A while back, the team started experimenting with different materials: pairing different materials to create a layered look that contributes to overall dynamic aesthetics, design and adds loads of personality. Here you will find everything from a cheeseboard to full HQ!
Their name reflects the integration of different raw materials, not just recycled timber but incorporates all materials: exotic wood, recycled wood, salvaged trees, fabrics, leather, glass, mirror, plexiglas, cement, steel, paint techniques and now ceramics with the Norman ‘o Flynn/Coney furniture range.
The Norman Coney Collab Range of Furniture
Coney Collective teamed up with renowned Cape Town pop artist Norman O’ Flynn to produce a range of exciting new furniture pieces now known as The Norman Coney Collab Range.
This exciting collection starts with three French oak servers. The concept was to wrap the units with some of Norman’s vibrant and bold Timekeeper series pieces which created such a dramatic contrast from acrylic on plexiglass against the rich and warm French Oak.
The end result is a masterpiece – a blend of fine furniture and bold artwork.
What’s in the pipeline?
The future has endless possibilities when you’re constantly evolving and thinking out of the box. Coney Timbers are currently talking to a German company on embedding tech into their products i.e. cell phone wireless chargers and solar charging panels… Watch this space!
