LIM: The Open Book Range | Two New Products in Collaboration with Lise van Schoor
Every great collaboration begins with a spark. For LIM and designer Lise van Schoor, that spark came from a shared love of books, and the quiet ritual of reading that anchors daily life. Over bagels, coffee, and a drink, ideas began to unfurl. Together they imagined pieces that could slip seamlessly into a favourite corner, enriching not only the act of reading but the simple pleasure of being still.
From sketches to prototypes, the collaboration evolved with care, until the Open Book Range emerged: two pieces that balance function, form, and a playful spirit.
The Book Club Reader Lamp
Sleek, sculptural, and delightfully unexpected, the Reader Lamp is equal parts lighting, sculpture, and side table. With its slender steel frame and statement colourways – Gloss Burgundy or Ferro Brown – it makes a striking addition to any space while requiring only the lightest footprint. Its built-in table keeps a book, glass of wine, or phone within reach, making it as practical as it is poetic. A lamp designed not just to illuminate, but to inspire.
The Polly Otter Stool
Partnering perfectly with the lamp, the Polly Otter Stool is a character all of its own. Upholstered in bold houndstooth wool suiting and set on playful solid oak ball feet, it dares to delight while offering the simple joy of comfort. Whether it’s catching the eye in a corner or simply supporting tired feet, it proves that functional design can also be fun.
Together, these pieces reflect LIM’s ethos: simple, thoughtful design made to last, with an irrepressible sense of style. The Open Book Range captures Lise’s personality and LIM’s belief in crafting timeless pieces that enrich the everyday, transforming a quiet corner into a sanctuary of light, comfort, and character.
