True Design presents Thinking Man’s Chair
From the creative mind of British designer Jasper Morrison and the skilful hands of the artisans at Cappellini, comes the Thinking Man’s Chair, an iconic outdoor design for contemporary times.
Known for his distinctive style, as well as his rigorous attention to detail, including material, shape, engineering, comfort, finish and colour, Morrison and Cappellini have collaborated on over 30 highly successful designs over the years, including Low Pad Armchairs, the Elan Sofa, Bac Table and Chairs, the Cap Chair and the Thinking Man’s Chair – the very first design the designer and company collaborated on.
A supremely comfortable outdoor armchair, available in four colour finishes, the Thinking Man’s Chair is one of the most popular collaborative designs to this day.
“For the Thinking Man’s Chair, Jasper Morrison envisioned a design in which all the elements are functional contributions that ensure the comfort of the seat for prolonged periods of relaxation and pondering: the areas that support the body are made of flat bars and the main structure is tubular; the armchair has armrests equipped with integrated drink rests,” Cappellini explains.
“The Thinking Man’s Chair is made of varnished metal, available in green, dark grey, terracotta and gypsum white. The terracotta version also comes in a special edition embellished with writing that emphasizes the metal structure’s radius of curvature.”
Cappellini designs, including the Thinking Man’s Chair, are available at True Design.
