SOFACOMPANY: power of collaboration and creativity
Renée Rossouw
Offering a spectacular example of the power of collaboration and creativity, Sofacompany recently collaborated with Cape Town designer Renée Rossouw to transform its Paula three-seater sofa into a functional work of art during Cape Town Furniture Week.
Serving as a canvas for creative expression, Rossouw painted the sofa live during a special session, exploring the relationship between colour, form, and function, while challenging the boundaries between art and design.
“Wrapped in our signature Maya Cream bouclé, Paula’s sculptural form and Danish design heritage provided the perfect canvas for Rossouw’s bold, abstract compositions,” says Simonne Christie, the Head of Interior Design and Commercial Projects at Sofacompany.

“The unique textured surfaces interact with light, adding depth and movement, while the ever-changing perspectives of the piece ensure that no two experiences of it are the same. The painted sofa becomes a unique artwork, shaped by both artistic vision and functional design.”
This collaboration embodies the philosophy that furniture is more than just functional, it’s something we live with and connect to. It is sculptural art, designed to enrich and elevate the spaces it inhabits.
