Porada Presents The New Twenty Collection

The new Twenty collection by Porada presents all the outstanding and much-loved qualities of a Porada home: elegance, sobriety, attention to detail and quality of the materials.

The new furniture pieces and accessories have been designed to complement the existing collections. Far from the fleeting extravagances and eccentricities, the new designs evoke stability and solidity imposed by the recent world events. Rather than following trends, the new designs are born to be classics, timeless additions to contemporary homes, creating warmth and comfort.

With these principles in mind, Gabriele and Oscar Buratti designed Abacus, a modular sofa, which interprets tradition and elegance in a contemporary way. The key idea is that of uninterrupted flexibility, thanks to the hexagonal seat elements which can be added to the design, turning the sofa into a corner unit or a chaise-longue. Another sofa, more classic this time, is Softbay. Designed by Giuseppe Viganò, this sofa is enveloping and with a traditional “tub” shape and soft lines. A place of honour in the new collection goes to the Alan table family, designed by Buratti.

The main idea is the use one single leg with a particular curved section that can be joined to three or four elements, to create the central bases of rectangular and round tables. The richness and elegance of this table is due to the polished drawing of the curve and its combination, that can create chiaroscuro effects and geometrical shapes in continuous movement. Not to mention also the attention to the artisan production and to the details of the wood combined with particular metals. The possibilities of compositions are multiple: round or barrel vault shaped tops in different dimensions, in wood, marble or clear glass. This table has all the characteristics to become the new protagonist of the dining area.

Many small pieces of furniture are also part of the new collection, like in the original Porada’s production. Smile, handy pouf designed by Marconato&Zappa, is informal and dynamic in character, with a frame in solid wood and a practical stretched handhold, which can also work as a small backrest for the upholstered seat. Jet is a group of playful trolley with geometrical shapes and rounded edges designed by Carlo Ballabio, who also designed the Fritz side tables and the Mix mirrors, from which he took the inspiration. They feature a brand-new material for Porada – a ribbed wooden inlay with pinstriped effect.

Porada’s world of lights is now enriched by Astra, the company’s first ceiling light. Designed by David Dolcini, it is a reinterpretation of the classic chandelier. The new design features solid wood and plays with the contrast between the ephemerality of the light and solidity of the wood. Ziggy Baldacchino four-poster bed remains the main protagonist of the night area, now also available in the canaletta walnut finish.

It’s worth considering a separate discussion, but not less important, about the study of the materials. Renowned for its use of natural materials, Porada stays faithful to the use of solid wood, canaletta walnut or ash, in line with the traditions of the cabinet-making vocation and the artisan excellence. Marble is another undisputed protagonist of the latest collections, enriched this year with the new Carnico grey finish with its captivating black and grey shades.

The cast glass of the Jelly side tables has now two new tonalities, rust and blue ink colour. The same colours that we can also find in the fabric range together with micro-geometries with monochrome contrast. Inspired by the 50s and 60s, the velvets are taking centre stage, combined with the original boucle.

In addition, the Twenty collection features three new rug ranges, to perfectly complete the Porada home. The first range, in an ecological material made from the recycled fishing nets, is a high pile rug in a single colour hue. The second collection is matching the fabrics of sofas and armchairs with micro-geometries built on the contrast of warm and cold tones. The third one catches the eye with an interesting combination of colours and herringbone and stripe patterns.

As a whole, the Twenty collection presents a harmonious Porada home, which evolves and resists, decorates and distinguishes and brings comfort and a safe haven to its residents. Because now more than ever “The home should be the treasure chest of living.” like Le Corbusier suggested.
