OKHA’s Lola bar stool
A simple yet alluring combo of distinctive parts skilfully crafted from birch plywood, wire-brushed oak veneer and brass plate, OKHA’s Lola bar and counter stool, is the latest must-have item from the Cape Town-based studio.
With its distinctive shape and use of materials, the Lola stool “exudes a quiet glamour and poise with the balance of materials and elements combining harmoniously to create a timeless design,” says OKHA.
“Deceptively simple, resolutely elegant and graceful, Lola embodies the OKHA ethos of attention to detail, bold form, a masterful play of materials and acute attention to comfort, taking design beyond the object,” the company adds.
The upholstered stool (choose between fabric or leather) is available in two sizes, with several base options: natural ash veneer, carbon ash veneer, dark java ash veneer, chalk ash veneer, beech veneer or natural walnut veneer.
As with all of OKHA’s designs, the design of the stool highlights OKHA’s focus on purity of form and the company’s high regard for noble materials and traditional artisanal and hand-crafted techniques.
“Each design focuses on an essential statement of line, the resonance of natural materials and the desire to gracefully hold space via a taut and articulate silhouette,” explains OKHA of their design ethos.
“The resulting works arrive at a provocative junction of contemporary design and the manifestation of a distinctly personal expression.”
