OKHA Unveils Forma Lenta Outdoor Collection at Salone del Mobile 2026
At Salone del Mobile 2026, OKHA introduces Forma Lenta, a new outdoor furniture collection developed in collaboration with Yardcom – a project that positions furniture not as standalone object, but as an extension of architecture.
Presented within a purpose-built pavilion by SAOTA, the collection sits within a broader spatial narrative. Here, architecture, furniture, and landscape are treated as a continuous system, reflecting a distinctly South African approach to outdoor living, one that dissolves the boundaries between interior and exterior.
At the core of Forma Lenta is a slower, more deliberate design methodology. Rather than emerging from a singular gesture, each piece evolves through incremental refinement – small adjustments in proportion, structure, and surface that gradually resolve into balanced, composed forms. The result is a collection defined by clarity and restraint, where sculptural presence is tempered by precision.
Comprising sofas, armchairs, daybeds, and tables, the collection is designed to move seamlessly between indoor and outdoor contexts. Its material language reinforces this adaptability. Bronze-finished aluminium provides durability against the elements, while refined etching techniques introduce a tactile quality that captures and diffuses light. As the day shifts, so too does the surface; subtle variations in shadow and reflection adding depth without excess.
This balance between performance and expression is central to the collaboration. Through Design Under License, Yardcom’s advanced manufacturing capability supports OKHA’s disciplined approach, ensuring that each piece maintains both structural integrity and material nuance.
Within the pavilion, the collection is experienced not as display, but as environment. Angled roof planes establish scale and orientation, while open, layered spaces encourage movement and interaction. It is an installation that prioritises atmosphere as much as form.
With Forma Lenta, OKHA and Yardcom present a considered evolution of outdoor furniture, one that values proportion, material integrity, and a quieter, more intentional way of designing for contemporary living.
