Introducing The Norman Coney Collab Range of Furniture

Coney Collective has teamed up with renowned Cape Town pop artist Norman O’ Flynn to produce a range of exciting new furniture pieces now known as The Norman Coney Collab Range.

This exciting collection starts with three French oak servers. The concept was to wrap the units with some of Norman’s vibrant and bold Timekeeper series pieces which created such a dramatic contrast from acrylic on plexiglass against the rich and warm French Oak.

Coney Collective, custom made furniture company based in Cape Town has been driving by desperate need to innovate by using different materials. Their work started with recycled wood and has since introduced steel, stone, cement, leather, fabrics, ceramics and now plexi-glass into their product range.

To spice things up even more, local artist and sculptor, Norman O’Flynn was approached to partner with Coney Collective in the creation of an enticing new range of furniture – The Norman Coney Collab Range.

Norman, who lives and works in Cape Town as a painter, sculptor and all round constructor, has a deep understanding of the pop art tradition and explores the meaning of this genre in today’s context. Daily encounters with people and media are his creative inspiration. The state of humanity is questioned and interpreted in his work, ironically portrayed in a playful and harmless manner, with an intentional cynical and dark sense of humour. With regards to his medium of choice, he uses oil paint and acrylic on plexi-glass, combined with a technique of layering and patterning.
