Inova Contracts: Pyro Coffee Table

Defined by its elegant, balanced design, the Pyro Coffee Table by Sylvian Willenz for Hay is yet another striking showcase of the designer’s signature use of ceramic.

Characterised by circular symmetry and simplicity, the table reflects the designer’s signature approach – elegant, clean, and carefully proportioned to create a sense of balance.

“The Pyro Coffee Table is inspired by my deep interest in materials, colours, and textures, as well as my practice in ceramics,” notes Willenz of the design. “For several years, I have integrated ceramics into my design work, and these experimentations have shaped the creation of Pyro for Hay.”

Based in Brussels, Wilenz is a particularly inquisitive designer, immersed in the language of products and industrial processes. His work spans various typologies and is often inspired by graphics, drawings and other 2D sources – he desires to create elegant and clean designs that are both unfamiliar and familiar. This approach has afforded him several prestigious accolades over the years, including several iF Awards and the Red Dot “Best of the Best” Award in Product Design. He was also named Belgian Designer of the Year in 2009.

With an interplay of matte and glossy surfaces enhancing its refined design, the Pyro Coffee Table is a playful yet graphic piece that seamlessly fits into various indoor and outdoor settings.

The Pyro Coffee Table’s richly glazed ceramic top is available in three colours, complemented by a matte steel base in white or black.
