Inova Contracts: Crate Collection
Celebrating Dutch designer Gerrit Rietveld’s 1934 Crate Collection, Rietveld Originals and Hay recently relaunched a respectful interpretation of the original designs.
Based on a similar aesthetic strength and similar proportions as the originals, the line extension introduces three new pieces – a dining bench, lounge sofa, and dining table.
“Crafted from solid pine with a water-based coating, the new designs amplify the options and uses for eating or relaxing in a variety of outdoor environments,” explains Hay.
“Crate Lounge Sofa features low proportions with a gently sloping back and seat with supportive armrests.
“The Crate Dining Table shares the same precisely balanced proportions and transparent construction as the rest of the Crate collection, to minimise production costs and optimise the assembly process.
Crate Dining Bench’s classic design features a gently sloping back and seat with supportive armrests, its simplicity and spatial design mirroring the designer’s architectural principles – providing functionality and comfort without absorbing space. Suitable for a wealth of outdoor settings, it can be supplemented with optional seat cushions in selected textiles for extra comfort.”
Echoing Hay’s mission to create well-designed, affordable furniture, the popular Crate collection offers the perfect blend of style and durability for elevating outdoor paces.
Hay is locally available at Inova Contracts, a stockist of design-led furniture for discerning South African buyers.
Representing top names in the furniture world, such as Pedrali and Knoll, Inova Contracts is driven to provide unique, functional and appealing designer pieces to the local market.
