Herman Miller Unveils the New Mexico Collection in Collaboration with the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum

Herman Miller has unveiled a striking new collaboration with the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum, and it’s as captivating as the landscape that inspired it. Launched during NYCxDESIGN (15 to 21 May), the New Mexico Collection pays tribute to an iconic creative kinship and the spellbinding terrain of the American Southwest.
Anchored by two limited-edition pieces – the sculptural Girard Snake Table, based on a never-released prototype by Alexander Girard, and a special Eames Wire Chair Low Base in its rare ‘bikini’ iteration – the collection brings together three titans of modern design: Georgia O’Keeffe, Charles and Ray Eames, and Alexander Girard.
“This collection is a testament to our ongoing commitment to preserving and reimagining the visionary work of these creative pioneers,” says Jennifer Nield, Vice President of Lifestyle at MillerKnoll. “We’re honoured to share it with the world during NYCxDESIGN.”
The collaboration was sparked by a piece of living design history: a prototype Eames Chair, gifted to O’Keeffe by the Eameses, that now resides on permanent display at the museum. That enduring gesture of creative camaraderie served as the jumping-off point for a collection steeped in shared legacy and mutual admiration.
Just like the high-desert light and vast skies that drew O’Keeffe to New Mexico, these designs evoke a sense of elemental beauty and poetic restraint. With its sinuous lines and mid-century soul, the New Mexico Collection isn’t just furniture, it’s an homage to artistic friendship, timeless form, and the enduring magic of the Land of Enchantment.
