Care For Your Leather The Incanda Way

Leather is a completely natural product and furniture upholstered in leather is some of the most durable around. With the proper care and nourishment, it can last a lifetime and usually becomes more beautiful as the years pass. Learn to take better care of your leather with Incanda…

By following these simple guidelines, you can lengthen your leather furniture’s lifespan.

1. Regular cleaning:

Dust your couch regularly with a clean, dry cloth and vacuum occasionally using a soft brush attachment. For deeper cleaning, you can also wipe down your couch with a moist microfibre cloth and a solution of mild, non-detergent soap and distilled water. It is very important to go over the surface again with a dry clean towel when done. This will lift dust particles from the pores in the leather and allow it to breathe.

2. Cleaning up spills:

Leather is porous and thus absorbent – like a sponge. That is why it is important to clean spills as soon as possible, before it can be absorbed. Any food or liquid stains should be wiped off with a damp cloth. To treat more stubborn stains, use a mixture of mild, non-detergent soap and lukewarm water. Be sure to wipe the surface again with a clean damp cloth and blot the area dry.

3. Conditioning:

Your Incanda leather furniture will need some TLC from time to time to ensure it keeps looking great. Treating your furniture with Incanda’s specialised leather balm is an important part of caring for it.

We recommend treating your leather furniture once to twice a year. Should you live in an area with extreme weather conditions, more frequent treatments – every three to six months – are recommended.

How to apply leather balm to your leather furniture:

1. Apply a small amount of balm on a clean cloth.

2. Rub the balm over the entire leather surface.

3. Allow the balm time to be absorbed into the leather.

4. With a clean, dry cloth, gently wipe the surface again to remove any excess balm.

How to apply Hannicare Leather Care to your leather furniture.

1. Shake the can well before use.

2. Spray the product onto the leather holding the can in an upright position and approximately 15 – 20cm away from the surface.

3. Lightly cover a small area with Hannicare Leather Care and then spread it further by using a clean dry cloth.

4. Finally, buff the surface with a soft, clean and dry cloth.

Things to avoid:

Don’t expose your leather furniture to too much direct sunlight or harsh lighting as this may lead to fading over time.

Don’t place your leather furniture too close to any heat source.

Avoid using a wet cloth or abrasive cleaning products when cleaning your leather furniture.

Leather furniture can withstand most things life throws its way. However, we would still recommend safeguarding it from those unavoidable spills by treating it with a fibre-guard product.
Leather furniture should not only add beauty to your home. We want it to become part of the fabric of your life. We want it to be at the centre of it all where wonderful memories are made. So, take good care of your furniture and it will return the favour.
