Sublime Sophistication – A Rooftop Restaurant By Mim Design
Melbourne-based Mim Design pulled out all the stops to create a magical rooftop restaurant as part of The Star Casino’s lavish $850 million renovations.
The design team envisioned a sophisticated space that celebrates the beauty of the ocean along the Australia’s blissful Gold Coast. Located on the top level of The Darling hotel, a 150-seat restaurant opens on to an infinity pool. This is Nineteen at The Star, featuring immaculate views and a sublime bar area designed to entertain up to 500 guests.
With details in white, gold and blue, the interior space is reminiscent of the coastline with added sophistication drawn into every aspect of the design.
Mim Design‘s colour palette for this fine dining restaurant intentionally reflects the surrounding environment. The elevators and bar area graciously invade the room with its shiny golden gilded brass elements, that contrast beautifully with the rest of the luxury design.
“The interior feel of each space captures the elements of the Gold Coast – luminescent water line views, dappled sunsets and strong horizon lines all play a part in its design philosophy,” says Mim Design’s Principal, Miriam Fanning.
Reflecting on the nightlights of the city, these golden elements are the perfect combination with the rest of the restaurant design ideas. Curving custom bench seats and chairs are upholstered in shades of teal and ocean-blue velvet.
A series of floating chandeliers, each a unique construction of brass, tubular and spherical bulbs, enhance the opulent mood. Though nature-inspired, Mim Design chose materials that are all appropriately lush for a glitzy Gold Coast Casino.
The end result is a beautifully glamorous space for dining and entertainment. A carefully crafted environment offering sublime sophistication.
