The Best Dish Award Autumn Edition 2018: Neethlingshof in The Winelands
From all pictures that were shared on social media using the hashtag #BestDish, 10 pictures were selected as finalists and uploaded for a final voting round on Facebook. Although the 10 finalists (Greenhouse, Clico, Carbon Bistro, Coobs, Geet, The Black Bamboo, Le Coin Français, Myoga, Neethlingshof and Reubens at One&Only) clearly all master the art of plating, it was the Baby Beetroot Salad from Neethlingshof in The Winelands Johannesburg that got the most likes in the #bestdish competition.
The best dish had 28% of the votes and scooped the Best Dish Award Autumn 2018. Previous winners of the Best Dish Award are LBV (Spring 2017), the Black Bamboo (Autumn 2017), Athol Place (Spring 2016), Kitima (Autumn 2016), Marc’s Table (2015), The Restaurant at Newton Johnson (2014) and Central One (2013).
About the Awards
During the Autumn Edition (from 19 April until 6 May), 100 participating restaurants designed a special menu and served this to Restaurant Week guests exclusively.
Afterwards, every guest is invited to review the restaurant. To qualify for the Best Restaurant Award, we look at the highest average score with a minimum number of 25 reviews (except Durban because this city had fewer reviews). Contrary to most awards, the Restaurant Week South Africa Awards are therefore determined by diners and their experience during Restaurant Week, and not by a jury. This way they ensure that the lauded restaurants are restaurants where real people like to eat.
Here we go again: ‘Winners Edition 2018’ (24 May until 3 June)
Good news! Based on the reviews we also know which top 3-10 restaurants per region delivered amazing experiences. This is the reason for organizing the Restaurant Week ‘Winners Edition 2018′.
