Castro Wood Presents Musae’s Laurel Garden by CCD

Musae’s Laurel Garden by CCD is a beautiful geometric building characterised by undulating pitched roofs. Located in Guangzhou, China and designed by CCD, this bold building is unmistakeable in beauty, both inside and out.

With points, lines and planes interweaving, it’s like a simplistic yet aesthetic “time box” which blends into its natural surroundings and the city.

Completed in December 2019, the 1,100m2 build was carefully crafted, with an interior which forms a foyer that is continuously connecting with the outside garden through a fully glazed facade. The ceilings soar up to 13 metres high, creating a breathtaking atmosphere, like one would expect from a place of worship.

A beautiful mix of materials sets the tone indoors, with curved surfaced in wood, glass, concrete and more. Designers certainly harnessed all the potential of the soaring height of these premises: the walls and bespoke bookshelf set the stage for a play of sunlight that freely casts its beams across the surface as playful shadows and light.

The material choices of the designer create delightful visual contrasts: the antiquated brushed bronze and the modern glass bricks generate a connection between the old and the new, and remind visitors of the passing of time and the walk of life.

When it comes to superior flooring, Castro Wood are the experts, with installations that offer contemporary appeal and lasting quality. The range of Castro Wood floors includes hardwood floors, engineered floors and decking, and the company is presently active in the market within over 40 countries and on 4 continents.
