Take a journey through Xigera Safari Lodge… Situated in the western reaches of Botswana’s iconic Moremi Game Reserve. It’s a love letter to the magic of the African bush.

The story of Xigera Safari Lodge is one of renewal. Of rebirth and family legacy, and of the pioneering spirit that drives us to seek out Africa’s wild spaces. The same spirit that inspired this remarkable reimagining, perhaps a complete reinvention, of an Okavango Delta safari.

This is Xigera (pronounced ‘kee-jera’), named for the Pied Kingfisher that makes its home amid the watery channels of Botswana’s Moremi Game Reserve.

Every aspect is thus handcrafted to beguile guests’ senses and stir their souls – from the evocative interiors to one-of-a-kind encounters. But Xigera is equally a line in the sand. A raising of the bar. A bold statement in the realm of luxury safaris, and an Okavango Delta safari experience like no other.

Bespoke Flooring

Xigera Safari Lodge is deeply rooted in the Okavango Delta and the team from Bestwood was privileged to contribute bespoke floor finishes by Hakwood to this extraordinary project.

Resting effortlessly within the wilderness of a World Heritage Site, the Lodge houses a collection of art that is bold in vision and groundbreaking in its scope, the first of its kind on the continent.

The architect and their clients’ therefore selected Sagonne, a genuinely hand-hewn floor finish crafted by renowned artisans, Hakwood, to floor both public and private interior spaces.

Their brief furthermore called for an anti-termite treatment to be added to FSC accredited French White Oak, all of which underwent extra conditioning to ensure dimensional stability in an otherwise unforgiving climate.

The visual and tactile effect is thus world-class, as the flooring offers a backdrop to offset the white river sand and vibrant fine-art installations.

Celebrating Africa

Xigera Safari Lodge offers just 12 beautiful suites, each resting effortlessly in this wild landscape. Amid this remarkable setting, Xigera’s design aesthetic is wholeheartedly dedicated to celebrating African art, design and creativity. Each piece has been handcrafted. Each piece is inspired by the incredible natural surroundings. Every experience can thus be tailor-made to your wishes… an entirely new imagining of the African bush.
