Spring Cleaning Your Clay Pavers

Spring brings with it warmer weather, and this means more time spent outdoors. This is the perfect opportunity to spruce up your paving in time for Summer. Here are some handy tips on how you can remove stains from your paved garage surface or driveway, and neaten up poolside or patio paving.

VINEGAR, LEMON AND WATER

Luckily, if you’ve paved your surface with Corobrik’s clay pavers, these are naturally stain resistant and shouldn’t absorb grease and oil too badly. If there is the odd stubborn stain you’re trying to remove, try a simple and organic solution of white vinegar, lemon juice, and warm water. Allow the vinegar and water to soak on the stained pavers for about an hour, then use some soap and water to gently scrub the stain off.

Corobrik’s range of colour-fast, skid-resistant pavers come in different formats, appropriate for residential driveways and pools, walkways, commercial, urban and office parking landscaping. Highly vitrified to facilitate longevity, these clay pavers are built to withstand the elements and be used in a variety of bond patterns to enhance the design opportunity and overall aesthetics.

HERBICIDES

Even if you have managed to avoid stains on your outdoor paving areas, chances are you’ll have weedsgrowing between the joints and these can weaken the seams. We recommend using an anti-weed agent to eradicate them. Powdered herbicides are easy to sprinkle along the seams and will quickly solve your pesky weed problems.

SWEEPING

It’s important to remove dirt regularly from your outdoor pavers, especially before it rains. Depending what material your pavers are made from, wet leaves can leave nasty stains on your paved surfaces. We recommend sweeping your paved areas weekly, and more often in the wet weather.

PRESSURE HOSING

Use a pressure washer to hose down and clean stubborn dirt and debris off your outdoor pavers. We recommend doing this monthly to prevent a build-up of debris.

If you’re about to begin a new paving project, we strongly recommend using a material that is stain and skid resistant and easy to maintain.
