Rudi’s Choice: Natural Stone Slabs
Offering a curated selection of natural stone slabs, Rudi’s Choice is the place to go for quality granite, marble and onyx materials.
What makes the range of products on offer at Rudi’s Choice so unique is the hands-on approach of CEO Rudi Eggers who travels the globe to inspect and purchase marble and granite blocks at their source.
“This approach ensures that Rudi’s Choice buyers get the best value for money and the best quality possible,” explains the company. “Rudi’s expertly selected range of exotic and local materials ensures that clients have access to a wide selection of natural stone with graining, colour and movement options.”

When it comes to selecting marble and granite surfaces from their wide range for a project, Rudi has the following advice for clients:
- “Granite and marble are beautifully suited to kitchen and bathroom surfacing, and can be applied as splashbacks, shower cladding and even flooring or stairs.”
- “All stone, even granite, is porous to some degree, which leaves it vulnerable to stains. For this reason, it is important to use a penetrating sealer to prevent stains from oil, wine, or other liquids from soaking into the surface.”
- “Granite is formed deep in the earth’s mantle at extremely high temperatures and is a very hard stone made of crystallised minerals. Marble, on the other hand, is softer and sensitive to acids such as vinegar and citrus beverages.”
- “Slabs are usually only available to purchase as a whole, although some fabricators may be able to supply slab pieces.”
- The fabricator’s price should include the cost of transport, visiting the site to take measurements, cutting the slab with professional machinery and then polishing it. Your fabricator is also responsible for fitting it into place. An excellent fabricator will lay out your job in a way that will minimise the amount of waste material while maximising the natural beauty of veining and pattern.”
