Italtile I Completed DeVos Pinelands Home

House De Vos is a deluxe Cape renovation completed in true Italtile style.

When the De Vos family decided to renovate their traditional Pinelands, Cape Town home, they had ideas of bright, light, open living spaces, with natural elements, earthy tones and a touch of luxury… but needed help to bring it all together. They reached out to Moegamat Bassardien – Italtile Cape Town’s design-certified Assistant Branch Manager – to help them bring their décor dreams to life.

Their reno project was quite extensive and ambitious, and needed careful and meticulous planning at every step of the way. Moegamat was a key player in the planning team. The project kicked off in January 2019 and was completed in February 2020, and during that time, Moe assisted the De Vos couple with design and layout and had total oversight of Italtile product selection and installation.

Moe put together a mood board of earthy, natural tones and textures that included natural stone cladding and the rustic eco-chic of reclaimed woods to resonate with the quintessentially African artisanal thatch and ‘rietdak’ elements. He continued the natural look and feel with stone-look porcelain tiles – chosen for their authentically veined and varianced finish and suitability for all living spaces.

While the De Vos family outlined an Afro-chic dream theme, they still wanted sleek modernity. Moe answered this with uber-modern sanware and brassware finishes, underscored by magnificently ‘rippled’ 3D wood tiles.

Today, House De Vos is a private African oasis with high-end, 6-star bush lodge personality. Natural finishes, earthy tones and artisanal craftsmanship marry with opulent touches in a synthesis of contemporary and classic that best represents the much-prized laid-back SA design aesthetic. The De Vos dream… delivered.
