Stiles: The Fashion Trends Transforming Tile Choices
Where fashion goes, interiors are sure to follow! There’s a clear link between catwalk design and home décor trends. According to Charl Edwards, editor of House and Leisure Magazine: “the fashion and art that we see online, on Instagram and in popular culture informs homeware, paint colours and even what retailers, designers and brands are manufacturing for us.”
Dive into the Vogue’s annual interior design trend report to see how the latest in runway haute couture is finding its way into designer homes with Stiles.
Latte Decorating
“Latte Dressing” is an obsession among celebrities such as Meghan Markle, Jennifer Lawrence, and Hailey Bieber. These starlets are big fans of clothing featuring milky coffee, caramel and tan hues. Now, according to Vogue, “Latte decorating” is set to be the next big thing in design. Inspired by the rich, comforting hues of artisanal coffee, latte tones infuse a home with warmth and elegance.
Curate a sense of tranquillity using latte tones in tiled bathroom and kitchen backsplashes. Stiles Funky Tiles Home Brick in Honey Gloss has lots of creamy coffee appeal to create a serene backdrop. The Cadaques Medium Matt tile offers a soothing terracotta stone look in a small square tile and a subway style.
Large format floor tiles such as the Flaviker Navona Honey Veined tile have the swirled appearance of velvety ‘crema’ on the top of a freshly brewed shot of espresso .
Linear Stripes
The stripe trend has been a firm catwalk obsession this year. Statement stripes featured heavily in the Louis Vuitton Women’s Spring Summer 2025 Show, at the Cour Carree du Louvre, in Paris ().
In fact, the entire catwalk was constructed from iconic Vuitton striped trunks. Bold, geometric, playful and classic candy-style stripes are also finding their way into tiled stair risers, patios, tiled showers and kitchen backsplashes.
Stripes can completely transform a space, making a room look and feel grander, wider, taller or bigger. Choose the Stiles AVA skinny subway tile in Ocean Gloss and White Gloss for a vibrant blue and white nautical theme.
Verdant summery stripes can be created by laying the Funky Tiles LOOK Moss Matt tile and White Matt tile in horizontal stripes.
Geometric Pattern
In the 70s, checkerboard tiles were the big trend! The print was clearly stolen from the punk wardrobes of the time. This bold print is now back in the spotlight. Chanel models stepped out in sophisticated checkerboard apparel at the Paris Fashion Week, reminding us that this pattern doesn’t have to be confined to a monochrome look. Checkerboard flooring is perfect for giving a new personality to dated rooms. Incorporate this pattern using the Geotiles Mugat in Blanco and Nero . Opt for alternating the creamy and terracotta tones of the Cadaques range to create a stylized backsplash reminiscent of an ancient Roman mosaic. The Cadaques Light , Medium and Rosso can be combined in a variety of patterns.
