Italtile Introduces Portland White Travertine-Look Porcelain

In this latest product introduction, Italtile unveils a refined addition to its travertine-look porcelain collection: the Portland White Rectified Glazed Matt 1200x1200mm, Spanish-made and designed for timeless, contemporary interiors.

Travertine is often incorrectly referred to as a marble look, but while both are popular stone surfaces, they evoke very different emotions due to their inherent characteristics. While marble is associated with sophisticated luxury and opulent drama, elevated by highly polished surfaces, travertine leans into a more earthy, rustic and organic aesthetic, defined by its beautiful imperfections, subtle pitted texture, and fossil-like inclusions. It features cloudy rivers of parallel veining rather than marble’s high-contrast, asymmetrical patterns.

Italtile’s latest addition to its exclusive travertine-look porcelain tile collection, Portland White Rectified Glazed Matt 1200x1200mm, is a beautiful example of this timeless material interpretation. It delivers a warm, lived-in minimalism that pairs effortlessly with earthy neutral textures such as wood and raw linen in both traditional and contemporary spaces.

Portland White’s serene, off-white background with soft grey “rivers” subtly nods to Pantone’s 2026 Colour of the Year, Cloud Dancer. The result is relaxed luxury rather than opulence, offering a softer, more approachable alternative to marble.

As a rectified tile, Portland White is precisely machine-cut to ensure uniformly straight edges. This allows for minimal grout joints of no more than 1.5mm, creating a smooth, seamless finish once installed.

With an R9 finish, the surface is smooth with a slight grip, offering low slip resistance. This makes it best suited to dry indoor areas such as living rooms, bedrooms, and hallways. Italtile advises that Portland White is not used around pool areas, outdoor decks, or spaces where water is consistently present. A PEI rating of 3 indicates suitability for light to moderate foot traffic, making it ideal for typical household use.

The range features 15 individual graphic faces, reducing pattern repetition and enhancing a more natural, authentic stone appearance during installation.
