House De Kock – Finished Deluxe With Italtile Style
Italtile Cape Town’s Moegamat Bassardien spent six imaginative months in 2020, between June and November, turning the De Kock family’s deluxe décor dreams into reality. While the brief was to create a stylish, comfortable, contemporary home, Moegamat was able to build layers of texture, tone and pattern to speak to the family’s relaxed sense of fun and imagination, and complement their eclectic collections that feature romantic French country chic, quirky ‘brocanterie’, reclaimed, upcycled décor details, and luxurious natural fabrics.
The textured, eclectic, ‘natural neutrals’ moodboard was interpreted with a selection of high-end, eco-chic Italian and Spanish wood-look, screed-look and stone-look tiles as well as 3D wood cladding and mosaic tiles.
Ceramica Sant’Agostino are renowned for their imaginative interpretation and remastering of nostalgic reclaimed wood looks, best seen in their peerless ColorArt and BlendArt ranges, which Moegamat selected for flooring throughout the house.
Extraordinary digital technology has created authentic bleached and weathered ‘timber’ – tiles which harmonise beautifully with the De Kock’s collection of ‘distressed’ wood furniture and eye-catching, honey-coloured ceiling ridge boards.
Walls have been clad with Tesla Urban Matt Glazed tiles to create a beautifully textured and varianced screed feel; these high end tiles have rectified edges which allow for a sleek, near-seamless surface with almost no visible joins. Majestic XXL Bayona Moka tiles were also chosen for their scale, seamlessness and tactile honeyed stone tones, which play beautifully with the mid-tone woods and natural linens.
The kitchen area features octagonal mosaics, which create a playful backdrop for the eclectic mix of artisanal wood and steel finishes. The deceptively simple monochrome bathrooms feature patterned mosaic tiles, and a striking matt black showerhead and mixers.
Cutting edge sanware by Swiss perfectionists Laufen completes the luxury bathroom look: Moegamat chose the Laufen Pro White Floor Standing Toilet – rimless, hygienic and ultra modern – coupled with a Slim, Soft Close Seat and the corresponding Laufen Pro New White Dual Flush (lo-flo) Close Couple Cistern.
The De Kock home project gave Moegamat Bassardien freedom to flex his creative muscles and allowed Italtile the space to showcase the very best contemporary international style that best frames the company’s “Live Beautifully” positioning and underscores its sustainable, LiveGreen ethos.
