Tiles are poured, pressed, and cured individually within the factory, allowing subtle shifts in tone, texture, and finish to emerge naturally through the making process. Rather than striving for industrial uniformity, these variations are embraced as part of the material’s character – evidence of something shaped by human touch rather than automated production.

This tactile quality becomes especially powerful once installed within a space. A charcoal splashback catches the changing morning light with softness and depth. Sandstone tones create warmth around a fireplace, while terracotta underfoot introduces a grounded, almost elemental atmosphere to an entrance hall. This year, Africotta extends this philosophy with the introduction of a dedicated wall tile collection. Available in three handcrafted formats, including the elongated Klompie, a refined Subway tile, and a classic square profile, the new range translates the same textured warmth into more vertical architectural applications.
