Zollanvari: custom rugs
Built on tradition and transformation, Zollanvari has been synonymous with coveted custom rugs for over 75 years.
A tradition that is continuing in 2022 as the company heads to the second edition of COVER Connect in New York – a boutique trade show for high-end rug brands.
The exhibition will also coincide with the release of their latest collection, Lion, which was developed in collaboration with Design Studio NOV24, Vienna, and SoFar SoNear Studio, Milan.
“We are attending COVER Connect New York to showcase our newest Lion creations to an audience always hungry for new things,” says the company.
The Soltan 3 and Soltan 4 designs, which depict a large lion’s head amid a profusion of bright blooms, perfectly capture the inspiration behind the range, which drew on the lion gabbehs and the heritage of the lion motif in Persian culture and the latest botanical-infused runway shows.
From reinterpreted traditional designs to contemporary patterns, the company’s focus has always been on innovation: “The reason why Zollanvari has managed to survive for six generations is by continuous change and innovation. Our motto has been to always stay ahead of the market. We follow fashion, interior and colour trends and forecasts constantly to stay ahead in our new designer range. In our traditional production we are always revising, refining and updating archaic, tribal and classical designs to suit the current market trends,” says Zollanvari.
Their luxurious rugs, woven from only the highest grade highland wool from the Zagros Mountains, organic Indian and Persian silks, and dyed with only natural dyes, include gabbehs, flat weaves and transitional rugs that combine kilim, soumak and pile weaving techniques to create a multi-textured surface.
