Plascon House Tour: Farmhouse Living

The truth is, nothing says a crisp, light and modern interior better than an all-white canvas from which to work. This is pretty evident in today’s gorgeously airy farmhouse retreat. Here white works as the base from which every room is designed and the overall aesthetic is a beautiful contemporary style that is perfectly on trend.

This holiday home was designed with a beach house ambience in mind – a place to unwind from the cares of everyday life an enjoy a slower pace of living with the people you love. As such, the plan was to create a holiday home that paid homage to the character of the old farmhouse, while adding a modern, coastal feel.

The beautiful ceilings were enhanced and the original wooden flooring was restored to add to the character of this home. The dark wood adds charm and depth against the white interior and ceilings.

A palette of light pastel tones have been incorporated into the design of this home. A soft blue sofa reminds us of the beach ambience  they wished to create, while natural textiles and linens help to create a fresh and inspired interior.

Beautiful rattan light fittings are a feature in the bedrooms – adding texture and visual appeal to the rooms with the intricate details of the woven materials used. The bedroom itself is light and spacious in white, with navy as a welcome accent tone.

The paired down colour palette also adds to the clean, minimalist feel of the bathroom, complete with white subway tiles that extend all the way up the walls, from floors to ceiling.

A gorgeous concrete-look tub adds an urban, industrial flair in this contemporary bathroom space. The darker shades of the floor tiles further complement the industrial, earthy, chic atmosphere of this bathroom retreat. And as with almost any other room in this home, a beautiful potted plant enhances a fresh, energy-filled ambience.
