What’s New at Mungo?
It’s almost that time of year again! The Mungo Mill is already in full swing preparing for the upcoming season and there is an exciting new range of products to look forward to!
Meet the latest and brightest Mungo addition, the pure cotton Vadoek Cloth – a multi-purpose checkered kitchen cloth that certainly checks all the boxes! Now available in 9 vibrant colour combinations.
Multitasking, hardworking, lifesaving. Awe-inspiring? Who would have thought the humble kitchen cloth be be all that.
This is what textile designer, Lenore Schroeder decided to try and achieve when designing the Vadoek Cloth. Motivated by the drab dishcloths she would regularly receive from her mom after she moved out of home, she completely reimagined this kitchen staple and took another step forward in Mungo’s foray into bright colours.
Wanting to maintain the checked design of traditional dishcloths but also add some texture to make hers more interesting, Lenore turned to Mungo’s Master Weaver Stuart Holding’s ancient pattern books and found the mock Leno weave (from the same family as the Mungo Huck). The 3D effect created by the Leno’s interlacing of the warp and the weft allows for greater absorbency in the bulkier parts of the Vadoek, with the strips of plain weave in between helping the cotton to dry quickly. Perfect.
With a cloth colour for every kitchen, you can find your favourite Vaodek in all Mungo shops and on their online store.
Mungo have also refreshed the textural cotton blanket range with the introduction of two fresh new hues. The Misty Teal and Citronella Lattice Weave blankets are woven with yarn-dyeded cotton which gives them a more brilliant colour and light fastness. Available in various bed sizes.
