Patricia Urquiola Unveils ‘among-all’ at Heimtextil 2026: A Fusion of AI, Materials, and Sustainable Design
Patricia Urquiola presents ‘among-all’, a groundbreaking design installation at Heimtextil 2026, creating an immersive environment where visitors actively shape the space. Combining artificial intelligence with innovative textiles, the installation transforms human movement into part of the experience, showcasing how materials, technology, and interaction converge in the interiors of tomorrow.
Located in Hall 3.0, ‘among-all’ explores the transformative potential of textiles, from soft, fluid surfaces to structural forms, reflecting Urquiola’s ongoing research into material innovation and sustainability. The installation demonstrates how textiles serve as interfaces between people, materials, and machinery, emphasizing circularity and responsible design from the outset.
A 3D-printed portal by Caracol, produced on the Heron AM robotic platform using ECONYL® chips by Aquafil, welcomes visitors into a futuristic landscape. Motion sensors and AI on a large LED wall detect movement, merging human and digital presence to create hybrid forms. Hybrid sculptures, inflated figures, and hanging grid structures further illustrate the interplay between traditional craftsmanship, sustainable materials, and advanced technologies.
Sustainability is central to ‘among-all’. The installation features Ohoskin, a high-performance leather alternative derived from orange by-products, and carpets made from woven selvages and production remnants by 13RUGS. Hanging grid structures created from these remnants provide tactile frameworks, emphasizing reuse and circular design principles. Existing works, such as the Giano upholstered sculpture, are reimagined with ECONYL® yarns, demonstrating the evolution of digital concepts into physical forms.
‘among-all’ builds on Urquiola’s previous Heimtextil project, ‘among-us’, presenting a new chapter in her exploration of textile thinking. Visitors can engage directly with the designer in the Architonic LIVE TALK or through guided tours that reveal the materials, processes, and innovations behind the installation.
Through ‘among-all’, Patricia Urquiola demonstrates how AI, materials, and sustainability can merge to create interactive, forward-looking design experiences, placing human presence at the heart of a responsive, transformative space.
Heimtextil 2026 takes place from 13 to 16 January 2026.
