Milan Design Week is Coming

Milan Design Week 2022 is probably the most captivating date on the calendar this year. From 6-12 June, Salone del Mobile and Fuorisalone will run the world’s capital of design.

Once annually, global artists, design professionals, and design lovers all descend on Milan to celebrate design, art, and innovation. It is the world’s largest and most important furniture fair, taking place at the Rho Fairgrounds. At the same time, Fuorisalone takes over the trendiest neighbourhoods of the city with a cluster of art exhibitions, installations, and events. Milan Design Week is thus all about celebration.

What to expect?

This event is the yearly pilgrimage of design professionals and design lovers, who have the chance to discover new products, disruptive artistic expressions, as well as design trends.

In previous years, it has usually taken place in April. However, this year we are anticipating a great week ahead from 6 to 12 June in order to grant maximum safety to exhibitors, visitors, journalists, and the entire international furnishing and design community from all over the world. This will give visitors and hosts alike the opportunity to make the very most of an event that promises to be packed with the latest design innovations.

Between Space and Time

The theme of Milan Design Week 2022 is Between Space and Time.

In addition to the celebration of a major anniversary, both Milan Design Week and iSalone 2022 will focus on sustainability, acting as a showcase for the progress made in the design industry by creatives, designers, and companies.

Space and time are these two dimensions at the heart of the debate and international agendas. Today, these subsequently determine the frame of reference for the design culture, defining its context of action.

The theme emerged over the last two years, from the dialogue with companies and designers and from the COP26 programme manifesto: we don’t have much time to think about our space and by planning every action in a conscious way can we think about the future.

From the relationship between these two elements, different interpretations will arise useful to broaden the dialogue in an open exchange between professionals, researchers and entrepreneurs hybridising different disciplines.
