Memphis Again – On the International Design Stage

Triennale Milano with Memphis Milano presents the exhibition Memphis Again, an exhibition directed and curated by Christoph Radl. From May 18 to June 12, Memphis Again’s exposition takes place at Triennale Milano Museum; the event aims to present all design possibilities.

Over two hundred pieces of furniture and objects will be showcased. Each piece has been made between 1981 and 1986 for the Memphis Collection. Think bookcases, partitions, display cabinets, dressing tables, dining tables, side tables, coffee tables and more. The exhibition will come to life showcasing beautiful Memphis-inspired pieces that furthermore, will include desks, chairs, armchairs, sofa beds, lighting and decor.

Smaller accents such as ashtrays, flower vases, fruit containers and textile accessories also form a part of the collection. You can expect the most diverse materials, like woods, plastics, laminates, glass, ceramics, porcelain, silver and steel.

A design show like no other

The objects are presented in chronological order, like a fashion show, in which the viewer will move along the catwalk in a nightclub atmosphere suggested by the set-up and soundtrack of Seth Troxler. Phrases from protagonists, critics, architects and designers are subsequently projected on the walls.

It is therefore an event that seeks to inspire a design beyond marketing. Memphis Again is more than a furniture exhibition – it’s a space of expression. The event’s area has dark walls with quotes projected on them— where it is possible to read some messages from designers and architects in English and Italian.

Every Friday at 19.00 and every Sunday at 12.00 it is possible to take part in the guided tour of the exhibition.
