Andrea Brand: Inspiration Set to Showcase At 100% Design
Andrea Brand is a talented artist and designer, one who remains on the cutting edge of local design. Catch her at 100% Design this August and be inspired by this talented powerhouse!
As a brand the Andrea Brand label is focussed on bringing unique, high quality and leading edge contemporary surface designs to the global market. This is coupled with collaborations with local service providers and interior designers.
The Andrea Brand collections are all digitally printed on high quality, eco friendly fabrics. Explorations into printing on upholstery, wallpaper, and wood have been very successful and the use of luxurious fabrics, like silk and silk hemp, has resulted in a fashion/lifestyle range.
We chatted to Andrea about what it is that inspires her.
What’s your go-to classic colour choice?
I love many colours, but a classic colour choice for me is a deep Sea Blue that one can combine with many other shades of colour.
Is there a hotel that’s most inspired your work?
Fundu Lagoon on Phemba Island was one of my places of Inspiration for the Jungle Traces. It is so remote, set in the pristine lushness of that Island.
Where do you go to spot new styles?
My most recent travel for soaking up all the newest interior trends was Maison&Objet in Paris.
Do you have a favourite restaurant?
At the moment it is Adis in Cape, Ethiopian traditional food.
Who or what is your biggest design influence?
I follow Lee Edelkoort’s design trends and the book ‘Talking Textiles’ is my constant source of inspiration.
