The 2020 Cape Homemaker’s Expo: The Art of Inhabiting Your Space

Themed InHabit, the 25th Cape Town HOMEMAKERS Expo will take place from 3 to 6 September at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) next year and will offer exhibitors the opportunity to showcase their very latest home products and services.

Says Sandy Edwards, HOMEMAKERS Expo Organiser – Cape Town: “We live in a world that is better connected than ever before. Next year’s show will connect visitors to products and services which will assist them in owning and inhabiting their space. InHabit is about improving the way people live in their homes and how they connect with everything around them. This includes environmental sustainability, story sharing, supporting local businesses and being better informed about products’ origins.”

Edwards adds that Cape Town HOMEMAKERS Expo has established itself as a key experiential marketing channel over the past 25 years. “Exhibiting with us guarantees that you’ll connect with the right audience. It’s an opportunity to do more than merely showcase your product. It’s the start of a relationship; a space where visitors can tangibly connect with your brand and your chance to show homeowners your relevance.”

Exhibitions hold many advantages. “Not only can you see what your competitors are doing, but you can also talk to customers on-demand, and know that people are there for a reason to spend. It definitely beats telemarketing. Visitors are in the right frame of mind and have waited months to get all the best suppliers under one roof. Considering this, it’s really important to design a stand that will grab customers’ attention,” Edwards explains.

She continues that the recently published 23rd edition of the UFI Global Exhibition Barometer survey states that the exhibition industry is alive and well and will keep growing year on year. “Eight of the surveyed countries and regions have, for all three periods surveyed, a majority of companies declaring turnover increases. South Africa is one of these countries.”

Current exhibitor Gerhard Calitz of Unique Kitchens, says that even though they have been advertising in the HOMEMAKERS magazine for several years, 2019 was the first year that they participated in the Expo. “We encountered eager participation from visitors, lots of enquiries and even more significantly was the number of serious leads we generated. Several visitors have already forwarded their building plans or contacted us for quotations, which was ultimately our goal. Not only have we widened our client base and built our brand, but strong relationships were formed and friendships made with extraordinary people,” he says.

First-time exhibitor Charl Marx-Ubbink of Vinostein admits that this year’s Cape Town HOMEMAKERS Expo exceeded every single one of their expectations. Says Marx-Ubbink: “The expo is world class and definitely top of its league. Our main objective was exposure, but we got way much more. We generated excellent leads for future business and expanded our clientele, and to top it all off, sold a bunch of our items and received many new orders. You will definitely see us again in 2020!”

Melanie Lucic of Bella Bling adds that visitors loved the fact that they could shop for smaller artisanal products if they were not in need of big ticket items. “The Expo was professionally run and very well organised. I found the expo team to be very helpful and supportive of our needs. Feedback from visitors was incredible and extremely positive. I was very proud to be part of such a prestigious event.”

Edwards concludes: “We’ve had wonderful feedback from this year’s show and look forward to offering visitors the perfect opportunity to explore, contemplate and purchase all the items you need to truly InHabit your space. The Cape Town HOMEMAKERS Expo is unmistakably the most important event on the city’s exhibition calendar and the perfect platform for artisans, manufacturers, specialists and knowledgeable experts to make authentic connections with visitors. Bookings are now open for 2020, so we urge prospective exhibitors to reserve their space as soon as possible.”

Show highlights will include ARTISAN Square, LIVING spaces, the Home | Tuis Theatre, ALFRESCO living and the DELI.

HOMEMAKERS Expo is proudly presented by HOMEMAKERS, the biggest home improvement exhibition group in South Africa. HOMEMAKERS reaches 100 000 visitors each year presenting three home lifestyle events in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Pretoria.
