Light Space Life: SAOTA’s Past, Present & Future Work
Light Space Life, SAOTA’s first exhibition, is open on First Thursday, 01 February 2018 from 5pm to 8pm, at THE ARCHITECT pop up gallery at The Cape Institute for Architecture (CIfA). With work in 86 countries, the exhibition highlights SAOTA’s past, present and future work around the globe.
The gallery has been transformed to reflect SAOTA’s distinctive style and dedicated approach to design. The space is divided into regions – Southern Africa, West -, East- and Central Africa, Europe, Middle East, Asia, Australia and America – taking the viewer through the studio’s history and 30-year journey. Giving the public a glimpse into SAOTA, a firm of architectural designers and technologists with global appeal, visitors will find inspiration through SAOTA’s innovative and dedicated approach to the execution of projects, which has seen SAOTA become internationally sought-after, receiving numerous awards and commendations from some of the most respected institutions worldwide. Capitalising on a unique understanding of an ever-evolving industry, SAOTA continues to build on past experiences and is well positioned to offer expert services to the corporate, institutional, commercial and residential marketplace. With roots in South Africa, SAOTA now has an international footprint with projects on five continents. A focal point of the exhibition is the high impact zone featuring a selection of signature projects and time-lapse footage. Tenebris Lab, a design collaborative and software development studio, will allow viewers to experience and explore projects in Virtual Reality through Lux Walker. SAOTA staff have also built scale models of key projects to demonstrate the use of light and space. Held until 2 March 2018, entrance is free and open to the public on First Thursdays and daily between 12pm – 2pm. The exhibition is supported by Dulux, Nederburg and Lux Walker by Tenebris Lab.
