Late Night Design with Open Studios
This October, the highly anticipated Open Studios returns to Cape Town, offering a rare and exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the creative studios that are shaping our skyline. On Tuesday 15th and Wednesday 16th of October from 5pm to 8pm more than 20 of the city’s leading architecture firms, landscape designers, urban planners, and interior designers will open their doors to the public.
Step inside the inspiring and usually off-limits studios of designers whose work you’ve admired in magazines. Each studio creates its own event with a range of interactive activities, including virtual reality, model building, and creative workshops.
Founded in 2013, Open Studios has grown into one of Cape Town’s largest design and architecture events, connecting the vibrant design community and the public while celebrating the built environment. For two nights, the city comes alive as design enthusiasts, students, and curious minds alike explore the inner workings of top design studios, engage with the teams behind iconic buildings, and experience Cape Town’s architectural landscape in a whole new light.
On Tuesday, October 15th, visitors can explore studios in the Central Business District, from De Waterkant to Kloof Street. The following evening, Wednesday, October 16th, will spotlight studios in the creative hubs of Woodstock and Gardens.
This year’s event is brought to you by Africa’s leading specialist in hardwood flooring Oggie and supported by OWA, Modena Technologies, Ceramica, Decobella, Fima, and WOMAG.
The event is free to attend and route maps will be available at every location to help plan your visit. The lineup of participating studios will be announced closer to the event date on Open Studios Website, Instagram, and Facebook.
The following studios will participate and open their doors in this year’s open studios: BHC School of Design, Bomax, Craft of Architecture, Design Network, DHK, GAPP, Hours Clear, Kevin Fellingham Architects, KMH, Meyer & Associates, Mobius Interior Architects, Ohkre Collective, Open City Architects, Paragon Group, SAOTA, SEA, SourceIBA, Stewart & Partners, TwoFiveFive, Urban Concepts, Urban Think Tank Empower,Yes & Studio, Wolff Architects and VDMMA.
