Homemakers Expo Presents DIY Projects To Try At Home

The InHabit Johannesburg HOMEMAKERS Expo will feature a wide variety of demonstrations, show specials, custom products and delicious food – all guaranteed to give each visitor exactly what they came for.

One of the 2020 Johannesburg Expo favourites is the InHabit Workshop. The workshop showcases a variety of DIY demonstrations from professionals who can help you on your home improvement journey.

Here are a few InHabit DIY projects to try in 2020 and learn more about at the show.

DIY Plaster Master

The expert team from World of Decorative Concrete and their sister company Stucco Italiano will once again show you how to DIY a variety of decorative concrete pieces.

The Stucco Italiano products are an easy way to get the concrete look. Concrete products are so versatile and can be used to transform everything from walls and ceilings to planters and furniture. See these cement plaster DIY videos to get you inspired and ready for the InHabit Workshop.

Dot and Doodle DIY

Dotting or Dot Art is experiencing a renaissance in DIY and hobby circles. Art and decor pieces are created by painting different size dots into a pattern on your chosen material. Acrylic paint and tools similar to those used by nail technicians are used to paint generally symmetrical patterns such as mandala-like designs. Dotting is a creative way to express yourself through your home decor projects and add some colour to your designs

We also know that adult colouring became extremely popular over the last couple of years. There’s also adult doodling, which is a fun way to encourage adults to doodle. The benefits of doodling includes helping you concentrate, spur creative thinking, it helps “big-picture” and so much more.

Dotting and doodling expert, Des Campbell, will show you how to reignite your playful side by teaching you the basic techniques and shapes along with creative ways to expand on them to get you into the doodling and dotting trend.

Bat Care

Some of us love them and some of us don’t. But the truth is, bats make the world go round. Many plants depend on bats to pollinate their flowers, while other bats act as convenient pest control. Giving bats a place to “hang out” instead of having them fly around terrifying you in your home is a great idea to action sustainability.

Building a bat box or bat house is a DIY project that takes moderate skill. Even if your DIY skills like drilling, sawing and accurate measuring need a little improvement, the team from Vermont Sales will be on hand to teach you all you need to build your own bat box. They will also be demonstrating how to build a kid’s swing and handy step-ladder.

Want to get ahead with this project? You can easily build a bat house with these easy to follow steps.

Creative Ceramics

Jana Nel will be demonstrating creative ways to handcraft decorative, ceramic pieces for your home. She has perfected the art of ceramics by applying her one-of-a-kind techniques to the works she creates.

A new Coat of Paint

If you’re looking for new paint techniques to apply in your home, then this workshop is for you! Joe Strydom from Trouvé will be demonstrating artistic chalk paint techniques to bring new life to your furniture and home.
