3daysofdesign 2026: A Call to Make This Moment Matter
As the global design community looks ahead to the next edition of 3daysofdesign 2026, the renowned Copenhagen festival is shifting the conversation away from nostalgia and speculation, and toward something far more immediate: the present moment.
Under the 2026 theme, Make This Moment Matter, the festival invites designers, creatives, and thinkers to reconsider the true essence of design — not only as an aesthetic pursuit, but as a meaningful act capable of shaping how people live, connect, and care for the world around them.
The theme emerges from a deeply reflective perspective. While the legacy of Danish design masters continues to inspire generations, and the future remains filled with possibility, 3daysofdesign proposes that the most powerful place to create from is the present. It is here, in the now, where intention transforms into action and where design gains relevance through purpose.
At the heart of the theme lies a powerful imperative: define your “why.” According to the festival’s vision, design without purpose simply occupies space, while design infused with emotion, responsibility, and meaning has the ability to create lasting impact. This philosophy extends beyond objects and interiors, encouraging designers to choose materials that are kinder to the planet, create environments that support wellbeing, and foster communities grounded in belonging and human connection.
For Signe Byrdal Terenziani, the theme represents an empowering call to action for the industry. She describes Make This Moment Matter as an invitation for creatives to embrace courage, purpose, and proactive thinking — even without having all the answers. The message is clear: meaningful design begins with intentional action taken today.
The festival’s new visual identity further reinforces this poetic narrative. Each year, 3daysofdesign introduces artwork that reflects its central theme, and for 2026 the identity has been developed by On Display, a collective of emerging cross-disciplinary creatives founded by Anders Gerning, Marie Heissel, and Tor S. Johannesen.
The artwork combines two symbolic elements in a striking collage: a black lily arranged in a still-life composition and an Origami Teller layered above it. The imagery explores the tension between stillness and movement, reality and reflection, evoking the delicate space that exists between the past and the future. The Origami Teller — playful, familiar, and filled with hidden answers waiting to be revealed — becomes a metaphor for curiosity, possibility, and discovery.
For the collective behind the artwork, the theme serves as a reminder to slow down and become more aware of the choices shaping both creative practice and everyday life. They describe 3daysofdesign as a warm and inclusive platform that welcomes exploration, dialogue, and shared experiences — values they sought to capture visually through their contribution.
Set to take place in Copenhagen from 10–12 June 2026, 3daysofdesign promises to once again gather the international design community for a celebration of creativity, innovation, and cultural exchange. Yet beyond exhibitions and installations, the 2026 edition carries a more profound message: that life is made up of moments, and every moment offers an opportunity to shape a meaningful legacy.
In a rapidly changing world, Make This Moment Matter stands as both a reflection and a rallying cry — encouraging the design industry to create with intention, act with courage, and embrace the power of the present.
