Plascon House Tour: A Grand Victorian Home
Step inside a grand Victorian house in London’s Holland Park where a complete redesign sees a new abode filled with art and the grandeur of bright, open spaces.
Studio Indigo was approached to re-envision this home after the owner’s children had flown the nest. The result is a new layout with open spaces and lots of natural lighting, also showcasing the owners’ exquisite collection of art and antiques.
Designers worked hard to incorporate the owners’ diverse collection of art, antiques and heirlooms into the design, creating a home of character and soul, as well as colour. In that way, the team hoped to preserve the memories associated to the collectables as well as bringing new life into the home.
The home features beautiful finishes and interesting details throughout. Painted walls and doors add to the charm of the interior. Unique furniture and one-of-a-kind pieces complete each room.
The kitchen takes on more of a modern feel – bright and white with contemporary cabinets that add to the lightness of the space. White marble countertops and splash-backs complement the white cabinetry. We also love that it is open plan and leads into the rest of the house.
The bedrooms come to life with bold custom headboards – in wood or inlayed mirror. Each adds depth and character to the rooms.
Overall the house is both grand and inviting. From the colourful art to the detailed floors and ceilings. Each room has been carefully crafted to compliment the overall look. The feel is thus layered, lived-in yet elegant. From the bathrooms to the living spaces, each room flows into the next and adds to the overall charm. A beautiful home that pays homage to its Victorian roots.
