Is there a hotel that’s most inspired your work?
Having had the privilege of international and local travel, and being multi-faceted in that I love chic and exclusive as well as earthy and organic environments, I can never say I draw influence from any one place. I find pockets of beauty and elements of inspiration wherever I go.
A place you love to visit?
There is an incredible spa resort in Rome called Qc Termeroma which offers a total indulgence of every one of my senses. Elegance, sophistication and a sensual satisfying of my soul, from its decor to its sublime water therapies to its superlative service, comfort and outstanding cuisine. This is my favourite place to restore.
Where do you go to spot new styles?
I find it important to keep relevant by attending various trade fairs internationally. One of my favourites is Maison & Objet in Paris where not only can you spot new style trends, but simultaneously draw inspiration and creativity from the romance of a beautiful city.
Do you have a favourite restaurant?
Currently my favourite restaurant is Carnelian at the Rock… I love it’s style, sophistication and laid back elegance. That, coupled with great food and a fantastic wine list keeps me going back for more.
Who or what is your biggest design influence?
I am fascinated by the creativity exhibited by the manufacturers of bespoke caseworks… Brabbu, Koket, Delightful, Maison Valentina and Boca Do Lobo… they push the boundaries between the sublime and the beautiful, between the contemporary, the classic and the traditional. They’re innovative, elegant, ‘out there’ and truly inspirational.
Any interesting projects you are working on?
We are very blessed to have many returning clients amongst out new works, currently including a few exclusive, Boutique lodges in Botswana, and various exclusive private homes in and around South Africa.
With extensive experience and a keen eye for detail, WMI Interior Design has established a solid reputation built around a business that represents savvy design, innovative thinking and tailor-made brilliance.
