Maison Cassandre
Offering a masterclass in style and hospitality, the newly opened Maison Cassandre transports guests back to the Paris of the Roaring Twenties with a warm gold-infused colour scheme, rich wood finishes, lighting designs dripping from the ceiling, shimmering mosaics and plush upholstery. Both chic and glamorous, this address also takes on an artistic dimension, paying tribute to the renowned illustrator Adolphe Jean-Marie Mouron, better known as Cassandre, who famously designed Yves Saint Laurent’s iconic YSL logo.
The four-star boutique hotel is the vision of Oscar Lucien Ono, founder of Maison Numéro 20. Offering 37 rooms in the heart of Paris, the hotel stands out for its intimate communal spaces, crafted by the interior designer like boudoirs punctuated by folding screens. Walls are adorned in wild silk, furniture made from Macassar ebony, Murano glass chandeliers, and door frames painted to resemble burl wood or faux marble.
Continuing the journey into the 1920s and 1930s, the hotel is furnished with vintage pieces, including a feline-inspired chaise longue in the entrance lounge and alabaster wall sconces designed in 1924 by architect Pierre Chareau. Tiger and leopard motifs, along with bird designs, feature on chair backs, carpets, and curtains, exuding a sense of exoticism. Bold combinations like these are juxtaposed with neoclassical busts and statues, lending the hotel a distinct ‘cabinet of curiosities’ spirit.
Promising an unforgettable stay, rooms feature custom-designed headboards by Maison Numéro 20 in one of three colour schemes: calming sea green, timeless beige, and bold terracotta red. The ensuite bathrooms mirror this balance of sophistication and restraint, featuring the same colour palettes alongside white marble.
A showcase of Ono’s unique style and bold designs alongside the functionality and comfort that are vital to any hotel, Maison Cassandre is a glittering new gem in the city of lights.
